Pride: When I Look At You

When I look at you,
I see the love that’s within.
Something the world doesn’t see,
Something so deeply hidden.

And when I think of you,
I think of who you could be.
I think of all the things that you’ve done,
The side that no one else sees.

And when I speak of you,
I speak of who you are.
The love that you have,
The pain that makes your heart hard.

And what I know about you,
Is that you’re part of a plan.
Something you can’t accept ,
Something you don’t understand.

And I’m sorry you don’t,
See the good there could be.
I’m sorry that you have to hide,
And cause yourself misery.

But He’s there can’t you see?
You no longer have to run.
But even so you do,
And quite frankly I’m done.

Because it’s Pride that keeps you,
And who’s holding you here.
He clouds all of your judgment,
Pushing out He who is near.

And I’ve tried to help,
Told you who you could be.
The man with all the promise,
All the possibility.

And you tell me that you need me,
I’m the one you can trust.
But soon I’ve come to realize,
It’s not for help, but for lust.

So if you’re so strong,
You can do this alone.
Leave me out of the picture,
Because it’s time I moved on.
